Posted Jul 18/10 - This weeks (PIFL Conversation With) is Pat Harris owner of the Kansas Stars. Question- You just held your first tryout camp did you find any interesting players? Answer-We did see a lot of good solid players and may keep a few of those on the roster but time will tell. Question-You have talked about having a power based football team can you build that type of team for the coming season? Answer-The Stars will be about in your face football our coaches think the talent is here for us to build that type of offense and those are the kind of players we are recruiting. We know that many defenses won't be built to play this type of offense and if that is the case we should have a slight advantage, we'll find out that is for sure. Question-How difficult has it been starting a organization like this? Answer-No matter how much you already know about the sports business this is a different kind of business, so some things you pickup as you go day to day and hour to hour in some situation's. Question-Can you be successful on and off the field in your first season? Answer-With a slow economy some challenges will be how well adjusted you the organization can be to change , but I think we will be able to make it through and be successful the league has a lot to do with how much success a team can have the plan is good and as the teams go so will the league so it is very important that all the organizations stay within the guide lines . Question-Can your Stars win the championship? Answer-We are going to lineup we'll just have to see because to win the whole the thing a team has to have a lot of things come together fast, I know this may not be the answer you were expecting but we just intend to play one game at a time and see where it takes us. Thanks Pat Harris for visiting with us .

Posted Jul 24/10 - This weeks (PIFL Conversation With)is Mark Ezell owner of the DFW Bombers. Question-With so many young players being such a big part of the league will your staff be able to teach and coach them up? Answer-I love the fact that all the teams will have to sign more rookie types we can teach the indoor game skills and some life skills at the same time. Question- The Bombers will have one of the youngest coaching staff's in the PIFL will that hurt you guys this season? Answer-I think it will be helpful we will have some veteran coaches but the youth scene is going to be good for the team as players and coaches will grow together. Question- Being in the division some good teams the Drillers just one of the teams you will face, can you win your division? Answer-We are going to play hard week to week and with a break here and there I think we will be in the top section of the division at seasons end. Question-Being head of the PIFL Combine committe what do see the league doing to see good young talent? Answer-We are going to give any player the opportunity to show his skills, I like the fact that all the league teams are present at the combines which gives players a better chance to get picked up by one of the teams, and as we move forward we have things and ways that tryouts can be improved for our game. Thank you Mark for your time.

Posted Jul 26/10 - The free youth football camp went over well as numerous kids attended and learned techniques of the game for free and in a bad economy the parents appreciated the efforts,of coaches and players who helped make the first camp a success. The West Texas Rustlers are expected to sponsor a youth full contact team this Fall, and other PIFL teams are expected to be ready to follow by the 2012 season. A league conference of head coaches visiting with one another is coming up July 30 as teams prepare for the PIFL Combines in August and ending in October. PIFL Operation Manuals are being placed in Owners hands as they prepare for the Owners meeting in September. There is conversation with a group of teams that would have to form a division if they were to be allowed in for the 2011 season that are 13 hours from the nearest PIFL team scheduled to play in 2011,those talks are expected to wrap up this week as in which direction the league and group will go for the 2011 season. Posted Jul 31/10 - This weeks (PIFL Conversation With) is Texas Regulators owner Toni Clayton.
Question-With the level of coaches in the league will your team be able to hold down a spot in the division?
Answer- We are holding out on our head coach position right now as are a few more teams, we will however have the guy we want in place before the owner meeting. As for us being in the mix within the division we very much will have a big say on that playoff spot.
Question-With the up coming combines coming do you expect to pickup a few good players?
Answer-Most teams in the division will hold a lot of speed and so will we and so those are the guys we will take a close look at.
Question- You guys play the Rustlers in West,Tx early in the season how do you see that Thursday Night game?
Answer-They will have a very good team and playing them in West,Tx won't be easy ,but a Silver lining is we get them early and if they are one of the leagues top guns ,we will at least know how we stack up.
But over all the league will have some good talented teams so I think on any given day those who on paper are Kings may start believing they already have won the championship and may get knocked off early in the season .
Thanks for visiting with us.

PAT HARRIS IS IN THE PROCESS OF BRINGING MINOR LEAGUE FOOTBALL TO KCK, by Crystal Booker KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Star is not just a newspaper. It’s also a brand new Minor League Football Team. Kansas City native Pat Harris is the head coach. Even though the league is under construction, Harris is very optimistic about the outlook for his team. The Stars was originally founded by Will Williams in Oklahoma. The league’s success inspired him to form a new team in Kansas City. Under the leadership of Harris, the Stars stand a real chance to go all the way this season. The team is currently in search of quality talent. And open tryouts are under way. Interested parties, please visit the Stars’ website at www.BallCharts.com. Recently, Harris took time to discuss his exciting new program. Our Q&A went as follows:
CRYSTAL: How are you doing today Pat? HARRIS: I’m doing great. CRYSTAL: What made you come up with the idea for the Kansas Star Minor League Football Team? HARRIS: Well, for the most of it all, just playing the game. I’m a local native from Wyandotte County. I played sports all my life. The main objective is to actually bring some positive things to the community. To bring a little change as far as activities for the youth are concerned. The program is also for adults who play the game of football. That’s what I’m bringing to the community. CRYSTAL: That sounds like something very admirable to do. Where do you see your football team going? HARRIS: Right now, we’re headquartered out of Oklahoma and Texas with the PIFL. That’s the Professional Indoor Football League. The league is successful. Based upon that, we’re looking forward to bringing the same success to the Kansas City community. CRYSTAL: As a Kansas City native, do you like the changes that you’ve seen Wyandotte County under go so far? HARRIS: We haven’t had a lot of change as far as activities are concerned. Hopefully, we will get some good exposure for the program. People need to see we have some good things going on in KCK. CRYSTAL: Roughly, how many players are you going to need for this team? HARRIS: I’m going to have at least 25 to 30 players on the main roster. The task is putting it all together. CRYSTAL: In this league, do some of the players turn pro at some point? HARRIS: Yes, every player will have the opportunity to go to the next level and play professionally. Either in an indoor league or any other franchise that will sign them. They will also have a chance to play in college with the credibility we have in our program. CRYSTAL: Where will the games take place? HARRIS: Right now, we do not have a set place to play games. We are looking at some of the area high schools. But nothing has been decided yet. CRYSTAL: How much are tickets? Can you get them in advance? HARRIS: Pricing schedules are still being determined. We plan to charge $3 dollars per ticket for adults and kids. CRYSTAL: Wow! That’s awesome! I wish the Chiefs would do that. Well, it definitely seems like this is going to be a great football team. And I know we are anxious to see how well they do. Do you have an optimistic outlook this season? HARRIS: Well, you know everything’s an issue as far as getting things in place. But, if we can get everyone to come together and support this team, we will deliver something new and exciting to Kansas City. CRYSTAL: Do you have any advice for any aspiring athletes that want a career in football? HARRIS: My thing is, play the game with energy. I always tell young people to master the format first. They must understand the game and know all the rules. Because there’s rules in everything you do; even in the sports. CRYSTAL: I want to thank you for speaking with me. And I’ll definitely be on the look out for the Kansas Star Football Team. HARRIS: That’s right. Thank you.

Posted Aug 7/10 - This weeks (PIFL Conversation With ) is Odessa Vaqueros coach Robert Vaughn
Question- Since you have coached in other indoor leagues which play with older players can you build a solid team within the PIFL age guidelines.
Answer- Talented young players age 21 thru 24 are all over West Texas and here around the Odessa area is loaded with good players, you just have to look.
Question- Are you building a power game offense?
Answer- This part of West Texas is about toughness so we will have some element of a power game which reflect the area itself.
Question-The up coming PIFL league combines will produce a lot of talented players, what will you be looking for?
Answer-This goes back to my last point toughness starts everything with me, if the player isn't tough we may not have much else to look at.
Question-With your experience can this team win enough games to get into the playoff's?
Answer- Count on that I expect us to be over .500 with a Ten game regular season every game is a championship game.
Thank you for visiting with us.

Posted Aug 13/10 - This weeks (PIFL Conversation With) are Glen Archie,Wayne Williams Owners West Texas Rustlers.
Question- Expectations are high for the Rustlers to reach the Championship game in 2011 ,will it be to much pressure on the coaches and players?
Answer- We expect the team to lay it all out every game, not that we want to win at any cost . We just have a lot of trust in the staff and they intern have that in the players and remember here in West Texas its win or go home.
Question- What made you decide to become an owner?
Answer- We have been friends and business partners for many years, and when this opportunity came alone we both thought it is good for the community and we saw it as a challenge at the time.
Question-As you know we are still in a bad economy many sports organizations are suffering the effects as well, how do you plan on staying in the Black when it comes to the cash flow?
Answer- The league first of all is setup as a AA level operation and teams can only operate within the operating cap put on by the league,so none of that under table payment stuff will take place which causes teams to bleed Red Ink ,they take on debt that really doesn't benefit any one in the end.
The league cap is $60,000.00 and in this current economy that is a very good place to be and will allow us and other teams in the league to grow and build, we have as a league short term goals to reach, and long term the latter is set as this is where we want to be in year Three, in short a little at time and we like that concept.
Question-You guys on taking a Junior level team why?
Answer- It is part of our community plan we must be willing to give back or else why should the community support us,the Economy has caused fans to take a second look at how sports operate in this area, and if you have no plan of giving anything back they will notice that and you can guess what happens after that.
Question-If the Rustlers fail to reach the championship game in 2011 will the season have been a failure?
Answer- No while we would love to line up on July 23 2011 and play for the PIFL Championship our main goal is to bring an entertaining event and the best football we can offer our fans for the season, anything else that happens within that is a plus, but we again expect to be there.
Thanks for visiting with us.

Posted Aug 20/10 - This Weeks( PIFL Conversation With) Mike Williams owner Conroe Jaguars.
Question-With all the talent'ed players around East Texas ,how do you decide which players make your roster?
Answer- We want players who not only are good on the field but also can be great people in the community so personality will go a long way in seeing how the player fit our program.
Question-You have a very good coach in Ron Rankin does that help set the tone for the team and organization?
Answer- Yes he is a good Man and wants nothing but the very best from those around him, and that intern sets the tone for all our coaches and the players. And he will get after front office if he has too and that is what I like about his drive.
Question- Your division has some talent'ed teams how will you stack up against them?
Answer- We also have some outstanding talent so we expect very tough games which is good for the fans and the league, we will do well in the division.
Question- Can you win the PIFL Championship in 2011?
Answer- I can't say we can but I will say count on us having a good season and if that happens our opportunity to win it is within reach.
Thanks for your conversation.
