HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Kevin Eakin's return provided quite a blast for the Alabama Hammers on AUSA Military Appreciation Night. Eakin - a former Vipers quarterback - threw for 200 yards and six touchdowns in his first start as the Hammers posted the most lopsided win in Huntsville arena football history with a 94-0 win over the Mobile Bay Tarpons before 3,150 fans Saturday night at the Von Braun Center's Propst Arena.
Mico McSwain hauled in three touchdown passes from Eakin in the first quarter and Travis Blanchard added a 40-yard kickoff return for a score as Alabama jumped to a 45-0 advantage and never looked back in improving to 3-5 in the Southern Indoor Football League.
McSwain had five touchdown catches on the night, Charles McClain rushed for two scores and Blanchard returned an interception 42 yards for another score.
Al Donaldson paced the Hammers with 6.5 tackles, while former Auburn standout Marquise Gunn had a pair of sacks.
Alabama continues its three-game homestand Saturday when it plays host to the Albany Panthers at the VBC. Kickoff is set for 7:35.
Note: this was the Chattahoochee Valley Vipers replacing the Mobile Bay Tarpons
