Eastern Kentucky posted the first shutout in Ultimate Indoor Football history Saturday.
PIKEVILLE, KY – The Eastern Kentucky Driller notched the first-ever Ultimate Indoor Football League shutout, closing down Canton 45-0 Saturday at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center.
The loss puts the Cougars on the verge of being eliminated from playoff contention, while the Drillers moved into a third-place tie with Huntington.
Jason Conner recorded two of the Drillers’ three rushing touchdowns as Eastern Kentucky put the game away with 25-point fourth quarter.
Canton quarterback Ray Marrow was injured in the first quarter, forcing receiver Tim Smith behind center for the rest of the game.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY 44, HUNTINGTON 23 – Northern Kentucky scored the final 20 points of the game to secure a home game in the 2011 UIFL playoffs.(Game Stats)
Jared Lorenzen finished the game 23-of-42 for 239 yards and three touchdowns. He added two more rushing touchdowns in the game. More than half of his completions went to Ricardo Lenhart, who had 12 catches for 120 yards and one touchdown. His 12 receptions tied a UIFL single-game record.
Jon D’Angelo, the league’s leading tackler, had a six tackles to go along with a caused and recovered fumble. Safety Tez Morris added six tackles and an interception in the victory.
Dray Mason scored all three of Huntington’s touchdowns, two rushing and one receiving. His 54 yards rushing are the second most by a running back this season.
