CANTON, OHIO - The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) is pleased to announce a second expansion team for the 2012 season will be in Estero, Florida.
The Florida Tarpons, with Florida based ownership lead by Michael Taylor, is the second team to join the league's newly formed South Division. The Tarpons join the Rome River Dogs, who were announced last month, as members of the South.
Florida's website will be launched in mid-May, and its Ft. Myers-based office will be open in June. Season tickets will go on sale in June. The Tarpons will play at the 7,000-seat Germain Arena, which is one of the premier arenas in southwest Florida.
Ticket prices for the Tarpons, similar to the other teams in the UIFL, start at $7 for single games and $42 for season tickets.
Employment opportunities are available by sending your resume to andrew@floridatarpons.com. Two of the team's official sponsors are LaQuinta Inn and Suites in Ft. Myers and RBI Realty.
The exact alignment of the two divisions, tentatively named North and South, will be determined once expansion is complete. The two divisions will not play each other during the regular season. The league championship will be contested against the winner of the divisional playoffs.
The UIFL, a six-team league, is currently in the middle of their first season. Teams are currently in Canton, Ohio, Saginaw, Mich., Huntington, WVa., Pikeville, Ky., Highland Heights, Ky., and Johnstown, Pa.
