Amarillo, TX 4/25/11 - The Amarillo Venom will be at a couple of local schools today for TAKS (Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills) test pep rallies.
Some of the Venom players will be at Rolling Hills Elementary, located at 2800 W. Cherry Avenue, today at 2:15 p.m. and others will be at Austin Middle School, located at 1808 Wimberly Road, today at 2:45 p.m.
"A lot of these kids are the same kids that are cheering for us on Saturdays," said Joe Morgado, the Venom's General Manager. "Now it's our turn to cheer for them and let them know we are behind them as they prepare to take this test."
The TAKS test is a standardized test taken by students in the state of Texas to assess their understanding of various subjects required under Texas Education standards.
The Venom will be back in action Saturday, April 30th, as they take on the Allen Wranglers. Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. The game will be the team's "Guns and Hoses" night where firefighters and policemen will be able to get in for as little as $8.
