HUNTINGTON, WVa. -Saginaw scored the tie-breaking touchdown with less than a minute remaining to lift the Sting to the 49-42 victory over Huntington. The victory breaks a second-place tie in the Ultimate Indoor Football League standings.
Huntington’s defense appeared to have come up with the game’s biggest play, but Josh Kaltsas’ interception return for a touchdown was called back due to a penalty late in the fourth quarter.
EASTERN KENTUCKY 43, JOHNSTOWN 21 – Eastern Kentucky’s defense held Johnstown scoreless in the first half en route to the 43-21 victory at the Eastern Kentucky Exposition Center in UIFL action. Matthew Barbour hauled in a team-high four touchdown passes in the victory.
The Drillers, whose defense recorded a safety and blocked a field goal, are now tied for third place in the UIFL standings with Huntington at 4-3.
NORTHERN KENTUCKY 78, CANTON 55 – Jared Lorenzen tied his own UIFL record with nine passing touchdowns as the River Monsters stayed atop of the UIFL standings with the 78-55 victory at the Canton Civic Center. Harry Lewis recorded seven receptions for 90 yards and four touchdowns.
Ray Marrow threw seven touchdowns for the Cougars as Ryan Brinson had six catches for 143 yards. Brinson now has two of the top-five individual receiving performances this season.
Jon D’Angelo, the league’s leading tackler, led the River Monsters with seven tackles and a pass break-up.
