With a 4-0 record under their belt, the first place Cincinnati Commandos are back at the Cincinnati Gardens for a home game with the Port Huron Predators (2-2) on Friday at 8:05 p.m. The Commandos are coming off a 32-15 road win at Dayton, while Port Huron is coming off a 45-29 home loss to Chicago.
The game features the top two offenses and defenses in the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL). The Commandos are atop both categories, averaging nearly 62 points a game and just shy of 300 yards of offense, while surrendering less than 18 points a game. The Port Huron offense also has been dominating, averaging more than 50 points in each of their four games and collecting 200 yards of offense per game. Defensively, the Predators are ranked second, surrendering 30 points a game, while limiting opposing offenses to just 126 yards a game.
The Commandos roster features multiple, local talent, led by quarterbacks Tyler Sheehan out of La Salle High School and Bowling Green State University and reigning CIFL MVP Ben Mauk from the University of Cincinnati. Among other Bearcats populating the Commandos roster is running back Greg Moore, wide receiver George Murray, linebacker Tony Cornett, defensive linemen Frank Straub and defensive linemen Thomas Claggett and Terrill Byrd from Colerain High School. Other area high school players with the Commandos are Middletown’s James Frazier (University of Minnesota) and Phillip Barnett (University of Toledo), Fairfield’s Andy Stuckert and Winton Wood’s great Keith Brooks.
Single-game tickets for adults are priced at $12 and tickets for kids ages 10 and under are $7.
