Huntington's defense held Johnstown scoreless in the second half.
HUNTINGTON, WVa. – Don’t tell the Huntington defense the indoor game is built for offense. The league stingiest defense is continuing to steamroll and stymie opposing offenses and Friday was no different. (Game Stats)
The unit held the Johnstown offense scoreless in the second half en route to the 52-16 victory. Huntington (4-1) takes sole possession of first place by a half game over Northern Kentucky, which hosts Canton 7:30 p.m. Monday.
Huntington limited the Generals (1-4) to just 33 yards offensively, and harassed the Johnstown signal callers for seven sacks. Over the span of two games, Johnstown quarterbacks have been sacked 17 times.
Andre Portis and Rodney Fritz each recorded six tackles, while Portis had 3.5 of the team’s seven sacks.
Hammer quarterback Martavious Young was 16-of-24 for 189 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for 48 yards and another touchdown.
Johnstown quarterback David Dinkins struggled throwing the ball, completing 4-of-13 for 47 yards and one touchdown. He added 21 yards rushing and a touchdown.
