SAGINAW, MI – LaVaughn Macon has 12 catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns as the Saginaw Sting snapped their two-game losing streak with a 76-41 victory Thursday over Eastern Kentucky at the Dow Center in Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) action. (Game Stats)
Due to a playoff hockey game scheduled for the arena, the game was moved from Friday to Thursday. The change in scheduling caused Saginaw to play to games in four days, and they showed no ill effects.
The 76 points scored were the second-most points scored in a UIFL game this season. Northern Kentucky tallied 79 points in their most recent victory.
Saginaw quarterback Tommy Jones was 19-of-26 for 263 yards and six touchdowns to lead the Sting offense.
Meanwhile, the Drillers have gone backwards since pulling into a four-way tie two weeks ago. They scored 60 in the upset of the River Monsters, but has only put up 68 total in the last two games.
Aric Evans led Eastern Kentucky with eight receptions for 114 yards and three touchdowns. It was the second time that Evans and Macon each eclipsed over 100 yards in a game. They are the third and fourth players to surpass the 100-yard plateau more than once in a game.
