Bryceson Lawrence, who was the 2009 Continental Indoor Football League defensive most valuable player, was signed to a contract Tuesday by the Marion Blue Racers said Blue Racers CEO/general manager LaMonte Coleman.
Lawrence, a River Valley High School graduate, played two seasons (2008-09) for the CIFL's Marion Mayhem, proving to be a hard-hitting defensive back who also had a nose for the football.
Lawrence returned three interceptions for touchdowns during the 2009 season and returned a fumble for a score in 2008. He was twice named CIFL player of the week in 2009.
The Blue Racers (1-1) will be hosting the Dayton Silverbacks at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Coliseum.
Coleman said he expects Lawrence to be in the starting lineup on Saturday.
