HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – After a slow start, the Northern Kentucky River Monsters exploded for 79 points as they defeated Johnstown Friday, 79-21, at the Bank of Kentucky Center in Ultimate Indoor Football League action in front of 2,910 fans.
The River Monsters took control of the game with five straight touchdowns, by four different players, over the end of the second and beginning of the third quarters. Receiver Willie Idlette had catches of six and 20 yards during the game deciding run.
While Jared Lorenzen and the gang was running roughshod over the Johnstown offense, the Northern Kentucky defensive line was harassing Generals quarterback Jeff Slatcoff. The defense, which was ranked last in the UIFL, recorded 10 sacks. Thomas McKenzie recorded a team-high 4.5, while Luke Scarborough added three sacks.
Huntington stayed tied atop standing with Northern Kentucky with the 39-28 win over Eastern Kentucky.
