CANTON, Ohio - The Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) is pleased to announce its weekly honors, for the week ending March 13. (UIFL Weekly Report )
It was a week that saw both undefeated teams, and high-powered offenses, stymied by aggressive defenses. Eastern Kentucky nearly doubled up Northern Kentucky with the 60-33 victory, while Huntington's interception in the endzone enabled the Hammer to secure the 38-37 win.
The Conquest Cards Offensive Player of the Week goes to Eastern Kentucky quarterback Allan Holland. He accounted for eight touchdowns on 23-of-38 for 244 yards in the Drillers' win. He is the second EKY player this season to earn the league weekly award as Aric Evans was in inaugural winner.
For the second consecutive week, a Johnstown General has earned the Terry's Tire Town Defensive Player of the Week. This week its newly signed Deqwan Young, who recorded five tackles, two interceptions and a pass break-up. Defensive lineman Victor Sesay earned the honor last week.
Northern Kentucky's Maurice Douse nearly averaged 20 yards per return with five returns for 98 yards in capturing the Edge Sportswear Special Teams Player of the Week. He is the second straight River Monster to earn the special teams honor.
