Three Fan Favorites Set to Return to Extreme in 2011
BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme announced the signings of three players for the 2011 season. Defensive Lineman, Antonio "Hollywood" Ficklin, Wide Receiver, Glenn Johnson, and Kicker Peter Christofilakos have all signed contracts to play for the 2011 Bloomington Extreme.
Antonio Ficklin, 6'2" 275 lbs. - Defensive Lineman from San Jose State University returns to the Extreme after missing the 2010 season with a knee injury. During the 2009 campaign, Ficklin recorded 42 tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 9 sacks, to go along with 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes broken up. Ficklin began his career as a fullback with the San Francisco 49ers before moving on to the Detroit Lions (both of the NFL) and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. While at San Jose State University, Ficklin recorded 122 tackles, 26.5 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks, three fumble recoveries, one interception and one defensive touchdown on his way to being named First-Team All-WAC as a junior. Originally a Louisiana native, "Hollywood" as he's come to be known as around the Bloomington/Normal community, has become an active citizen in Bloomington/Normal, where he volunteers with several under privileged youth organizations, volunteers as a youth football coach, and is an employee at Carpet Weavers Flooring here in Bloomington.
Glenn Johnson, 6'1" 195 lbs. - Wide Receiver from Indiana University will return to the Extreme roster in 2011. Johnson, who spent last year in Florida, ranks second in numerous Extreme All-Time receiving categories. In 29 games played (2006-2009) with the Extreme, Johnson compiled 157 receptions, good for 1,926 yards and 31 touchdowns. Johnson, the Clewiston, FL native, ranks 5th in Indiana University football history in receptions and yards and was a captain for the Hoosiers as a senior in 2003.
Peter Christofilakos, 5'10" 185 lbs. - Kicker from the University of Illinois enters his sixth season with the Extreme organization. Christofilakos was a standout kicker while at Illinois, where he was selected to the Big Ten All-Conference team in 2001 and was a Lou Groza Award finalist. Christofilakos leads the Extreme in games played (73) and is the All-Time leading scorer in franchise history with 719 points. During the 2011 season, Christofilakos had 117 kickoffs for 5907 yards, which included 5 touchbacks. He made good on 22 field goals, while connecting for 53 PAT's.
