blog.mlive.com/flintjournal/sports/2008/03/resurgent_phantoms_fall_short_against_surge.htmlFLINT, Mich. -- There was a shot of confidence, a needed dose of hope and a buzz of excitement in the stands.
The Flint Phantoms got everything but a win Friday night in their third game in the Continental Indoor Football League.
Flint led the New England Surge twice in the first half and still had a shot at victory in the last four minutes before losing 38-28 at Perani Arena.
Rocked by a 54-point loss at Kalamazoo a week earlier, the first-year Phantoms (0-3) bounced back with a gutsy performance and a thrilling game before an announced crowd of 1,078.
"We played tough, but it's hard to get this close to a win and let it slip through your hands," said Montrose native Wesley Fisk, who scored the first touchdown of the game and led Flint with 9 1/2 tackles. "We need to come together and finish off these games.".....article continues in link. Article also linked on IFF homepage. New England moves to 1-0 with the victory, while Flint drops to 0-3.

Huge game for Flint - they needed to establish themselves as at least a legitimate team. Even though I'd be frightened about the New England pass game if I were a Surge fan (and the placekicking and overall organizational legitimacy)...this was a big statement for Flint.
Even though the Phantoms can't pass (though apparently this new quarterback did a much better job), Flint has a better-than-advertised ground game.

Everyone KICKS OFF on tees. :-P
Terry was 0/2 on PATs, and he had two TD-saving tackles on KO returns. Flint scored on both drives, though.
