www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=731045Much like everything else in the area on Friday, the Milwaukee Bonecrushers were snowed under in their debut.
Playing the second game of their second season, the Chicago Slaughter showed the Bonecrushers what indoor football was all about, scoring a 64-41 victory at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
Making their debut in the Continental Indoor Football League, the Bonecrushers were outmatched from the beginning.
Chicago quarterback Ronnie Gordon threw for five touchdowns and ran for three more as the Slaughter improved to 1-1.
For the Bonecrushers, quarterback Ryan Maiuri threw six touchdown passes.
Off the field, the Bonecrushers already were having some bad days.
On Thursday, an announcement that another group led by former Wisconsin Badger Joe Panos had secured an Arena Football 2 franchise to start playing in 2009 in Milwaukee put a huge cloud over the future of the Bonecrushers.
AF2 is a higher level of play and a sister league to the top indoor circuit, the Arena Football League.
On Friday, up to 15 inches of snow in the metro area certainly put a huge crimp on what was hoped would be a strong crowd for the inaugural game. Attendance was just 2,186 as of halftime.
The weather also pushed the start of the game back by a half-hour to 8 p.m. because the Slaughter was delayed on their bus ride up from Chicago.......article continues in link. Article also linked on IFF homepage with other gameday coverage. Chicago improves to 1-1 while Milwaukee falls to 0-1.

The AF2 announcement simply means the Bonecrushers must work much harder to improve on and off the field to keep themselves afloat in Milwaukee.
Corpus Christi did it. It's not impossible.

I know it can be done, but I have a hard time believing 2 indoor teams can survive in Milwaukee. The Bonecrushers already have to compete with the Admirals (AHL), Brewers, Bucks and Wave (MISL) for sports fans money, another team may do them in.

I know it would be much easier to support an indoor team over an AF2 team. Save up your monies Milwaukee...you'll need to survive 1 to 2 years before the AF2 team dies and life goes back to normal.

That's the key. The team has to promote and get the Bonecrushers name out there in Milwaukee, or they won't have any support this year.
It can be done.
There's more sports distractions in Milwaukee, but there's also far far far more people there than in Corpus Christi.

It looks like the AF2 team is going to be named the Milwaukee Iron. Pretty lame name, I was assuming they were going to revive the Mustangs name.

I would have more interest in checking out the Bonecrushers and some of the exciting teams in the CIFL.
No interest in another retread af2 game myself.
