The former NFL star turned two into touchdowns in Allen’s season-opening 50-30 Indoor Football League victory over Wichita in Allen, Texas.
Owens, who’s a co-owner of the Wranglers franchise, caught TD passes of 10 and 27 yards and another ball for 16 yards. The Wild, meanwhile, kept it close into the fourth quarter. Dylan Pohlman kicked three field goals and Phil Staback threw two TD passes to keep Wichita within a point.
But Staback was intercepted with 8:17 remaining and Allen’s Frankie Solomon returned it 20 yards for a touchdown. Former Wild back Darius Fudge scored a 5-yard Allen touchdown and Wichita didn’t get closer than 13 again.
