Ex-Outlaws player sentenced to 6 years for cocaine traffickingbillingsgazette.com/news/local/crime-and-courts/article_a73c01b0-27fb-536f-acca-abe70f10a1f2.htmlFormer Billings Outlaws player Cameron Shawayne Smith will spend more than six years in federal prison on cocaine trafficking charges.
Senior U.S. District Judge Jack Shanstrom on Wednesday sentenced Smith, 39, to six years and six months in prison for his conviction on conspiracy and possession charges in connection with a large cocaine trafficking ring.
A jury found Smith guilty in a trial last November and determined that he distributed between 500 grams and 5 kilos of cocaine, which is a little more than 1 pound to 11 pounds.
Two other convicted cocaine traffickers, Shon Flores, also a former player for the Outlaws professional indoor football team, and Matthew Lamonaca, testified against Smith.
The trafficking ring, in which Flores was a major supplier, has led to indictments against 19 persons including seven former Outlaws players. Almost all defendants have been convicted.
