www.wicz.com/news2005/viewarticle.asp?a=19509BINGHAMTON -- Professional indoor football could be coming to Binghamton in the near future.
The IFL announced earlier this week that they plan to expand to Binghamton for next season.
"We are excited to welcome some great new faces into the IFL family for 2012," commisioner Tommy Benizio said. "I love the idea of a team in Binghamton. With the Binghamton area's already great fan base, the Indoor Football League should be a great fit."
Entrepreneur Matt Custer, along with his partner Chris Blake, agree and are the ones spearheading the IFL coming to the Southern Tier.
"Whether it's the B-Sens, whether it's the B-Mets, both of these franchises have shown, along with the success of other semi-pro football in the past, that this community thrives off of sports," Custer said. "Sports entertainment is huge, and being able to give the community something that will enhance the sports entertainment industry of the Southern Tier of New York is my goal and focus."
Currently the team is working on securing a venue to play in for the 2012 season.
