HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Alabama Hammers have a tough one ahead Saturday night in Albany, Ga.
The Hammers (4-7) wrap up their 2011 Southern Indoor Football League season with a 6:30 CST kickoff against the second-place Southern Division Panthers (11-3) at the Albany Civic Center. The game can be heard on 97.7 FM The Zone.
"It's a good chance for us to end this thing on a high note,'' Alabama coach Marty Hammond said. "It's been a trying season, but we have made tremendous strides and we have some of the best talent in the league on this team. We will give it our best shot and then start reloading for next season."
Former UNA quarterback Harrison Beck completed 17 of 28 passes for 219 yards and eight touchdowns in his first appearance for the Hammers in their 92-12 win over the Fayetteville Force last Saturday night at the Von Braun Center. Nine of the passes and seven of the touchdowns went to his former Lion teammate Mico McSwain.
The Panthers are paced by quarterback Cecil Lester, whose thrown for 2,367 yards and 57 touchdowns this season. Wide receivers Antwontis Curtis, John Harris and Antwone Savage have over 50 receptions and 600 yards each for the impressive Albany team.
