Dear Amarillo Venom Fan:
Recently I have expressed my desire to sell the Amarillo Venom franchise which has raised questions and concerns among our fans as well as speculations to the reasons why. This letter is to clarify any questions you may have.
First of all I want to state that there WILL be professional indoor football in Amarillo, Texas, for the 2012 season, the only question is whether it is under new ownership or the current ownership. The reason for selling this team is to help grow the IFL and operate a team closer to my home. As some of you may or may not know, I own another team in San Angelo that I am hoping to reopen for the 2012 season. Reopening the San Angelo market would be beneficial not only to the IFL, but also to the fans of the Amarillo Venom. By reopening the San Angelo market we will create an in-state rivalry with Amarillo which will help save my league partners money on travel. I want to make this clear, I am not shutting down the Venom nor am I moving the Venom to another city.
Finally, if the Venom does not sell, we will simply postpone the reopening of the San Angelo franchise and continue on with the Venom. If the Venom does sell, the new owners will take control of the team and continue on as they see fit. Either way the Venom will continue to operate in Amarillo.
I appreciate the continued support and passion of our fans and sponsors. Your love and support for this franchise is what makes this decision so difficult for me, yet easier for potential new owners. Let's finish the 2011 season strong and carry momentum into 2012.
Sincerely,
Randy Sanders
