Green Bay, WI: The Green Bay Blizzard Professional Football Team is pleased to announce the signing of wide receiver Robert Garth. Garth has eight seasons of experience in the indoor game, as well as spending time in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. Garth had two stints with the Blizzard totaling six years of service. "It's very exciting to have Robert a part of this franchise again moving forward," stated Blizzard Head Coach Rik Richards. "His knowledge of the indoor game and the Green Bay community will be very valuable to our organization as we continue toward our goal of winning a championship." Garth will wear his customary number 10 jersey and may see action as early as this Friday in Chicago.
Garth is known as "Superman" to local fans because of his aggressive and acrobatic style of play. He was a linebacker and wide receiver that played for eight seasons in arenafootball2, and was named 10th on the arenafootball2 Iron Man list. Garth is best known for his six-plus seasons with the Green Bay Blizzard. He played for the team from 2003-2006 and again in 2008 through 2009. At the conclusion of the 2009 season he set career-highs in receptions (88) and receiving yards (971 yards). Garth holds the Blizzard all-time leading scorer (650 points).
Along with being the all-time leading scorer, Garth also holds career records for receptions (291), receiving yards (3,886) and receiving touchdowns (92).
The Flint, MI native played both basketball and football while attending New Mexico State University. Garth has also played professional basketball in the CBA for the Fort Wayne Fury. Garth resides in Green Bay.
This week, the Blizzard travel to Chicago to face the Slaughter. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
