La Crosse, WI: With the IFL trade deadline fast approaching, the La Crosse Spartans and Green Bay Blizzard have completed a three-player trade that will send a wide receiver and defensive lineman to La Crosse to fill some gaps created by injuries in exchange for a wide receiver.
The Spartans have acquired WR Aaron Rhea (6'1", 208 lbs.) and DE Bernard Faithful (6'3", 250 lbs.) from the Blizzard in exchange for WR Bryan Pray. Rhea has played in four games for the Blizzard and has caught 14 passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns. Faithful has participated in six games and has recorded 17 tackles, one sack, and one pass breakup.
Rhea, from Stephen F. Austin, spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills in 2010 before joining the Blizzard. Faithful played collegiately at Toledo and spent 2010 with the IFL United Bowl Champion Billings Outlaws.
"This was a tough trade for us to make because Pray is such a great player and did so well for us," Spartans General Manager Chris Kokalis said. "Our hands are tied though with so many injuries. We had to do something to help our defense because we are missing five guys on that side of the ball with injuries. We are excited to see what Aaron (Rhea) and Bernard (Faithful) can do for us going forward."
Linebacker Wes McDermott has a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season. McDermott injured his knee in Friday's game against the Bloomington Extreme. McDermott joins WR Antonio Overstreet and DL Antonio O'Neil with injuries that will sideline them for the rest of the season.
Individual game tickets for the La Crosse Spartans second season in the Indoor Football League are on sale now at the La Crosse Center box office. Tickets for home games are on sale now for as little as $7 including the Spartans next home game on April 30th against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks.
Group ticket packages and special family four-pack offers are also available by calling the Spartans ticket office at 608-782-4461. To purchase single-game tickets, stop by the La Crosse Center box office or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
