Stockton has proven to be a much more worthy opponent than Tucson was in the Barons first game of the season.
Through two quarters of play, Stockton leads 22-13 and there has been a quarrel between players after nearly every play. Players on both sides participated in heavy Facebook-trash-talking session prior to the game, and it appears to have translated onto the field
Barons started with the ball but went four and out after a missed field goal attempt.
Stockton was first to score with a balanced drive that resulted in a short and quick touchdown pass. Stockton had a botched snap on the extra-point attempt but recovered and scored two points with a pass by their kicker to make it 8-0.
Barons answered back on a touchdown run by quarterback Thomas Peregrin with 4:47 left in the first quarter.
After a bad pitch by Stockton offense that resulted in a turnover, Barons capitalized with a long bomb from Peregrin to former University of Nevada, Reno wide receiver Del Bates at the end of the first quarter. Barons took the lead 13-8 with the play
Stockton then scored again with 9:17 left in the second to take the lead 13-14.
After a first down run by Keithen Valentine, Barons then went four and out as a result of four incomplete passes
Stockton then had their final score on a long touchdown pass. It was shocking he held onto the ball as he was literally plowed through the surrounding barricade by Rakeem Smitm. Final score at the half 13-22.
