*Due to a late scheduling change by the CIFL the Knights hosted the Indianapolis Enforcers for a rematch of last Sundays showdown. The Knights once again responded with a convincing 52-6 victory!!!
Head Coach John Burns had to have his team turn their attention from their week one rematch with the Commandos and refocus to take on the Enforcers. His team rose to the challenge by displaying a dominant defensive performance! When Head Coach John Burns was asked about his teams ability to overcome so much adversity he responded... "These guys have been through a gauntlet of emotions so far this season and they have responded to each challenge. Their true character shows in the mist of adversity and I can't tell you how proud of them I am right now". Coach Burns has said while he is satisfied with his teams 3-1 start he says his sites are set on a CIFL championship. Coach Burns was also quoted saying.." Alot of our teams success this season is from the leadership taught by our coaching staff. Defensive Coordinator Chris Van Stone and Offensive Coordinator Anthony Stone have raised the bar of expectations each week to the players. Those coaches not only challenge the players each week but us as a coaching staff".
Defensive Coordinator Chris Van Stone had his defense set for battle. With a relentless pass rush the Knights defense held the Enforcers offense in check. With a barrage of sacks, quarterback pressures, and turnovers the Knights defense set the tone for the afternoon. Strong performances turned in by defensive lineman Jason Wright whose relentless pressure led to sacks and a few safeties! Defensive back Darnell King "DK" saw his first start as a Knight and responded with an amazing leaping interception! Defensive backs Harvey Allen, Brett Barnes and Martell Taylor all contributed to shutting down the Indianapolis passing attack.
Offensive coordinator Anthony Stone had his unit ready for another strong showing. Jimmy "The Icon" Cichon continued his collection of touchdown runs early in the game. "The Icon" is having his presence shown all over the field as the Knights Iron-man! This two way starter is showing why he has been a top player in the CIFL for the past few years! Newly signed running back Mike Williams also saw some action with a collection of strong runs a hand full of catches and two touchdowns! With the Enforcers defense putting so much attention towards Knights superstar Willie Tolon Jr Coach Stone had to adjust his game plan and watch receivers Zontavious Johnson and Newly signed Justin Opengo make big plays all night. This receiving core is something special to watch!
Special teams has an MVP candidate in a Knights uniform! Julie Harshbarger continues her near perfect season with field goal after field goal right down the middle. Her extra points are becoming almost automatic. Congrats Julie keep up the good work!!
