Fans, the following is a reminder as to why the Blizzard are having a Military Appreciation Night:
He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags. He knows he may not see some of his buddies again..
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He patrols the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists. He's told he will be held over an extra 2 months.
You call your girlfriend and set a date for tonight. He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do every day. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
You roll your eyes as a baby cries. He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything. He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own people and remembers why he is fighting.
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of men like him. He hears the gunfire, bombs and screams of the wounded.
You see only what the media wants you to see. He sees the broken bodies lying around him.
You are asked to do something by your parents. You don't. He does exactly what he is told even if it puts his life in danger.
You stay at home and watch TV. He takes whatever time he is given to call, write home, sleep, and eat.
You crawl into your soft bed, with down pillows, and get comfortable. He tries to sleep but gets woken by mortars and helicopters all night long.
REMEMBER our Troops, and do not forget them LATER
Blizzard Defense Leads Rout of Express:
The Green Bay Blizzard were back in action Friday night at the Resch Center following last week's bye, and extended their winning streak to five games by defeating the Reading Express 62-19 in front of 4,086 fans.
Green Bay played well on both sides of the football, but it was the defense that put together an especially solid performance, holding Reading to 19 points. The Blizzard defense held the Express scoreless for two quarters and only allowed six second half points.
Blizzard defensive lineman James McClinton and defensive back Greg Jackson led the attack. McClinton provided pressure all game long with 3.5 sacks and four tackles-for-loss on the night. Jackson had 10 tackles and 1.5 quarterback sacks.
The Blizzard offense started the scoring when quarterback Willie Copeland found wide receiver Chris Bell for a 6-yard touchdown pass with 2:17 remaining in the first quarter.
Over the next few possessions, both Reading and Green Bay exchanged field goals. Blizzard kicker Joshua Shene connected on a 27-yard field goal, while Express kicker Erik Rockhold made field goals of 23 and 34 yards. Following the field goals, the score was 9-6 in favor of Green Bay.
Green Bay continued to put more points on the scoreboard before halftime when Copeland again found Bell for a 21-yard touchdown pass. A little more than two minutes later, Bell scored for the third time by recovering his own fumble in the end zone following a 15-yard completion from Copeland and extended the lead to 23-13.
The Green Bay offense added more points early in the third quarter when Copeland found newly-acquired wide receiver Aiona Key for a 5-yard touchdown pass. On the play, Copeland hung in the pocket and delivered a strike to a wide open Key for a 30-13 lead.
With a comfortable lead, the Blizzard turned to the ground game and running back DeMaudray Woolridge. He added touchdown runs of 8, 32, and 2 yards to continue the scoring output and put the game out of reach.
Woolridge finished the contest with 72 yards rushing on 12 carries to go along with three touchdowns. Copeland completed 17 of 28 passes for 134 yards and threw four touchdown passes.
Green Bay will travel to the state of Washington for its next game to face the Wenatchee Valley Venom on Friday, April 22. This is the Venom's first season in the Indoor Football League.
