Richmond, Virginia: The Indoor Football League is proud to announce the Vidswap.com Players of the Week for Week Eight in the IFL. Each week the IFL selects three players, one from each phase of the game, offense, defense, and specials teams, whose play on the field stood out among the rest of the competition. The Week Eight Players of the week are listed as follows:
Offensive Player of the Week: Romandre Gibbs, RB, Fairbanks Grizzlies
The Fairbanks Grizzlies pulled off another outstanding win against the Adrenaline this weekend with a score of 92-32. Gibbs would rush 19 times for 149 yards and 5 touchdowns, giving the Grizzlies huge momentum at home. Gibbs sits in second for total yards rushing at 267 yards on the season and averaging 53.4 yards per game.
Defensive Player of the Week: James Lancaster, LB, Allen Wranglers
James Lancaster stood out amongst the rest in the National Broadcast Friday. Holding the Roughnecks to 28 points and gaining a win for the Wranglers, Lancaster's performance was nothing short of spectacular. Lancaster recorded 7 tackles (4 for a loss), 3 sacks, and a blocked FG in this back and forth game against the Roughnecks. Without a doubt Lancaster's presence was game changing, and places him at the top of the list on defense in week eight.
Special Teams Player of the Week: Maurice Mansfield, KR, Nebraska Danger
The Nebraska Danger are pushing toward .500 with a big win over the Wenatchee Valley Venom this weekend. KR Maurice Mansfield showed his talents both on special teams and offense in this intra division match up. Mansfield recorded 5 returns for 135 yards including a 54 yard touchdown, also on offense Mansfield reeled in 3 catches for 45 yards and another touchdown. It was no question with the showing of his versatile ability that he is the Special Teams Player of the Week.
