HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY - The Northern Kentucky River Monsters indoor football team is teaming with Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Greater Cincinnati Saturday to honor the contributions of two local volunteers.
Debbie Mollette and Brad Macke will be honored at halftime of Saturday's game with the Eastern Kentucky Drillers. The pair will also serve as honorary captains for the 7:30 p.m. game.
The match between Mollette and Antonio started over seven years ago. Antonio, who has grown very polite young man with a well-rounded personality and variety of hobbies, met Debbie a few times through a sports buddy program and asked if he could have her as a Big Sister. Debbie readily agreed and they have been matched ever since. They really enjoy each other's company. Many times, they go out to eat and chat about life (and Debbie's dog). Other times, Debbie goes to Antonio's ball games to cheer him on quite enthusiastically. They also go to a friend's farm to ride quad runners and play in the country-side.
Brad Macke and his Little Brother Shawn have been matched since 2008 and over the three years they have been matched, Brad has seen Shawn almost every week.
What makes this match extraordinary is that Brad and Shawn have developed a very strong friendship. Brad has been there to support Shawn through so many things over the past three years - more than most people would have to deal with in a lifetime. Brad's experience as a teacher has given him many tools to assist him.
In addition to the honorees, the River Monsters are letting kids in free (12 and under) with a paying adult admission. The buy one, get one free offer will be available at the door. Additionally members of the River Monsters will be out in the community at Newport on the Levee, Kenwood Mall and Florence Mall with coupons.
If you have any questions about the ticket offer, feel free to contact the River Monsters' office at 859-572-7595.
