Cincinnati vs Dayton
The first place and undefeated Cincinnati Commandos traveled to backyard Dayton to take on the Silverbacks at Hara Arena. The defending league champions had their hands full throughout game but held on to extend their record to 4-0 with a 32-15 win. The loss drops Dayton three games out of first place with a 1-3 record.
The Commandos jumped out quick on the Silverbacks scoring five minutes into the game when Greg Moore ran in from a yard out to give Cincinnati an early 7-0 lead. Cincinnati tacked on another score four minutes later when Derrick Moss ran the ball in from a yard out and Dayton was down 14-0.
In the second quarter, Dayton fought back scoring 47 seconds into the quarter when Daniel Stover caught a 32 yard touchdown pass from Chris Stanford. The kick failed. With four minutes left in the half Jeff Hubbard kicked a 23 yard field goal and the score was 14-9 at half. Dayton opened the third quarter with a 27 yard touchdown pass from Stanford to Stover and Dayton led Cincinnati 15-14. Dayton’s lead was short lived. With 11:18 in the third quarter, Cincinnati’s Moore caught a 13 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Sheehan to put the Commandos on top 20-15.In the fourth quarter, Cincinnati added two touchdowns, one on a two yard run by Moore and the clincher was an 11 yard Sheehan to Lee pass.
For the game, Cincinnati’s Sheehan was 16 of 35 for 188 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw two interceptions. Sheehan’s top receiver was Boehm, who caught four passes for 66 yards. The top rushers were Moss with 14 yards on six attempts and Moore had 14 yards on 10 runs. The top defender was Pernell Phillips and Corry Stewart with four unassisted tackles each.
Dayton was led offensively by Stanford who completed nine of 19 passes for 121 yards, two touchdowns but was picked off four times. The top receiver was Stover with four catches for 100 yards. The leading rusher was Stanford who had 45 yards on five attempts. The top defender was Michael Davis with four unassisted tackles and three assisted tackles.
Indianapolis vs. Marion
Marion won for the second straight week at home thrashing visiting Indianapolis 78-0 to improve to 3-1 overall and one game back of Cincinnati, which dropping the Enforcers to 0-4.
The Blue Racers scored early and often in the first quarter. Christen Haywood scored on runs of 12 and 4 yards to have Marion led 14-0. Marion tacked on two more scores in the quarter when Ray Saunders recovered a fumble in the end zone and Bryceson Lawrence returned a 35 yard fumble for a touchdown and it was 26-0 after one stanza. The second quarter did not fair much better for the Enforcers. Marion scored on touchdown runs of 8 yards by Timothy Robinson; 21 yards by Lorenzo Best; a 26 yard pass from Robinson to Antonio Wells and Ryan Palmer recovered the ball in the end zone. At half, it was 53-0. The home team added two more scores in the third and fourth quarter to win 78-0.
