Blue Racers host Silverbacks in only Week 5 contest
State rivals square off in an important early season match up this week at Marion’s Veterans Memorial Coliseum when the Blue Racers play host to the Dayton Silverbacks. Both teams enter the game at 1-1 and tied for third place in the CIFL. They are a half game behind second place Port Huron and a game and a half behind first place and defending league champion Cincinnati.
A week ago, Dayton suffered a 61-34 defeat at Port Huron. The Silverbacks look to bounce back. Dayton opened the season with a victory 69-19 victory over Indianapolis. Marion opened the season with a victory at home against Port Huron and a 50-44 loss two weeks ago against Cincinnati.
On the offensive end, Marion is led by Josh Harris, who leads his team at quarterback and rushing yards. Harris has completed 19 of 34 passes for 152 yards and eight touchdowns. He has rushed 16 times for 55 yards and three touchdowns. His top target is Mike Tatum, who has caught seven passes for 59 yards and five touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Brandon Williams has two interceptions for 36 yards. The team’s top tacklers is Andre Troy, who had nine solo tackles and five assisted tackles.
