Julian Reese Named Assistant Head Coach/ Quarterbacks Coach
Amarillo, TX 3/28/11 - The Amarillo Venom have named former Venom Quarterback Julian Reese Assistant Head Coach/ Quarterbacks Coach.
"Right now we are struggling at the quarterback position. Who better to come in and help," said Joe Morgado the Venom's General Manager. "Julian brings quarterback experience to the table and his main responsibility will be working with our quarterbacks. His expertise at the quarterback position is what this team has been missing."
X'Zavier Bloodsaw has been the starter for the Venom, but the Venom recently signed Andrew Carcich, a veteran quarterback that played in Alaska and Tri-Cities last season. Carcich has already been named the starter for this week's game against Allen. Reese said his experience and knowledge of the game will benefit both players.
"I hate that I can't play, but I'm glad that I am able to help the team in some way," said Reese. "I'll be able to help with the quarterbacks which will give Coach Blackshear more time to work with the rest of the team. My experience will help both quarterbacks see the field better."
The Venom will be on the friendly confines of Coors Light Field the next couple of weeks, as they take on divisional foe Allen on April 2nd and then host the Colorado Ice in a rematch on April 9th. April 2nd is the Venom's breast cancer awareness game and ladies that wear pink will get in free. There will also be a free Candy Coburn concert immediately following the game at the Amarillo Civic Center.
Fans needing tickets can purchase them through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
