Amarillo, TX 3/28/11 - The Amarillo Venom have signed veteran quarterback Andrew Carcich who played with the Alaska Wild and Tri-Cities Fever in 2010. Carcich has already been named the starter for this week's game against the Allen Wranglers and will be replacing X'Zavier Bloodsaw.
"X'Zavier has done everything we have asked of him, but unfortunately that hasn't been enough," said Head Coach Rodney Blackshear. "We are 0-4 and need to turn this season around."
Bloodsaw had his best game against the Wyoming Cavalry on March 18th where he threw for 223 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for another, but struggled once again to take care of the football against the West Texas Roughnecks and has now thrown 8 interceptions in just 4 games.
"It's hard to win football games when you turn the ball over," said Coach Blackshear. "Carcich is a veteran player that knows the indoor game."
Fans will be able to see Carcich in action on April 2nd as the Venom host the Allen Wranglers at Coors Light Field. The game on April 2nd is the Venom's breast cancer awareness game and ladies that wear pink to the game will get in free. The Venom are also offering a special family package where Venom fans can get four tickets for just $40. A complimentary concert by Candy Coburn will be held immediately following the game at the Amarillo Civic Center.
Fans needing tickets can purchase them through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
