ALLEN, TX-The Allen Wranglers have been sent to the office again; this time, it was voluntary.
"It was the first time I've been in an office without having to defend myself," Wrangler player Nick Fellows said. "I'm not used to it."
In an effort to promote healthy activities among kids, members of the Allen Wrangler football team have been travelling to schools in the area and giving the morning announcements. Wrangler players then visit classrooms and participate in activities with children.
"It's fun to act like a kid and not get yelled at for it," Fellows added. "It's probably more fun for us than it is for them."
The Wranglers have also implemented programs to promote literacy among children. The team is currently hosting a reading program to encourage reading among youth. The Wranglers are also honoring athletes from local high schools at each of their six remaining home games.
"We want to be good role models to kids and this is a good way to do that." Fellows said.
Wrangler players are available to deliver announcements to any school in the area. To request an appearance, call the Wranglers office at 972-912-3111 or email the staff at football@allenwranglers.com.
