Amarillo, TX 3/14/11 - The Amarillo Venom are looking forward to their regular season home opener after a couple of tough road trips to start the season.
The Venom has their regular season home opener Friday, March 18th, as they host the Wyoming Calvary at Coors Light Field.
"We are looking forward to our home opener," said Rodney Blackshear, Head Coach of the Amarillo Venom. "The last two games we've gone into hostile environments where it was tough to get a win. I'm ready to be in a hostile environment where the fans are on our side and rooting for us. The fans may not realize it, but they have a huge impact on the outcome of the game."
The Venom is asking their fans to "blackout" the Amarillo Civic Center for the home opener by wearing their black Venom gear. Official game day blackout shirts can be purchased for just $10 through the Venom office. The Venom is also offering a special four for $60 package, where fans get four tickets and four official blackout shirts for just $60.
"The blackout is a way for our fans to visually show their support for our team," said Joe Morgado, the Venom's General Manager. "Our fans are the best in the league and will create a tough atmosphere for the Calvary Friday night."
Doors for Friday night's home opener will open at 6:00 with the Coors Light Tailgating Party on the corner of Johnson and 3rd starting at 5:30. Tickets can be purchased through the Venom home office, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
