Amarillo, TX 3/12/11 - The Amarillo Venom (0-1) will travel to Oklahome City tomorrow, March 13th, to take on the Bricktown Brawlers (0-2) in a battle of two Lonestar Division teams.
"We need to win this game," said Rodney Blackshear Head Coach of the Amarillo Venom. "Every game is important, but divisional games have that extra importance. If you win games in your division, you'll make the playoffs."
The Venom have made some roster moves this week to strengthen the offensive side of the ball as they signed offensive lineman Tommy Crowley, Wide Receivers Dexter Henderson and Antonio Dishman, and Quarterback Derek Rasmussen. Even with the signing of Rasmussen it is still uncertain whether he or X'Zavier Bloodsaw will get the start.
"Both guys have improved in practice this week," said Coach Blackshear. "Bloodsaw has had two weeks to work on reading defenses and Rasmussen is starting to pick up my offensive system. It's going to be a game time decision with the possibility of both guys getting some playing time."
The Venom had the week off while the Bricktown Brawlers are coming off of a 39-36 loss at home to the Allen Wranglers. The Venom will have their home opener Friday, March 18th, as they take on the Wyoming Calvary. Season tickets can still be purchased through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
The AMARILLO VENOM is a proud member of the Indoor Football League.
