(Richmond)- The Richmond Raiders will open training camp March 5th to begin their second season as a franchise and first in the newly expanded Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL). The Raiders; led by Head Coach James Fuller will welcome 40 players on opening day including Dudley Award winners Bryan Randall, Vince Hall and Rodney Landers.
The new look Raiders have shared a little of the spotlight with their practice facility; the former Dove Street Armory; the home to several Virginia National Guard units since 1965. The State of Virginia closed the facility in 2009 and the deed reverted back to its original owner; the City of Richmond. "This place gives us an edge, very few indoor teams have this combination of playing surface, meeting rooms, offices and support areas. We are truly blessed" James Fuller - Head Coach
The Raiders open their home schedule with a March 11 preseason game against the Harrisburg Stampede at 7pm. It will be "Suntrust High School Heroes Night" honoring educational excellence and the Times Dispatch All Metro Football team. The Raiders open their regular season March 19 against the Trenton Steel.
