Amarillo, TX 2/21/11 - The Amarillo Venom have named X'Zavier Bloodsaw their 2011 starting quarterback.
Any questions Venom fans had about who their starting quarterback would be in 2011 have been answered as Amarillo Venom Head Coach Rodney Blackshear named X'Zavier Bloodsaw the starting quarterback Monday night.
"I am confidant in Bloodsaw's ability as a quarterback," said Coach Blackshear. "He has a very good arm and is he is coachable. He does what I ask of him and he gets rid of the ball quickly which is important in the indoor game."
Bloodsaw played his collegiate ball at Texas College in Tyler, Texas, where he received All-Conference honors his junior and senior seasons and broke every Quarterback record at Texas College except for yards in a game.
"It's a great feeling being named the starter," said Bloodsaw. "I didn't have any doubt in my mind, but it was a great feeling to get that reassurance."
Bloodsaw said being named the starter this early in the week will help him to better prepare for the Venom's upcoming game against the Colorado Ice.
"I'm going to be able to get the reps with the guys that I know are going to play," said Bloodsaw. "I'm going to be able to get the timing down and get on the same page as those guys."
Bloodsaw will have a couple days of practice as the starter before the Venom's regular season kicks off Friday, February 25th, in Colorado. The team has two road games and a bye before their home opener against the Wyoming Calvary on March 18th.
Tickets can be purchased through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
