HARRISBURG, PA (February 16, 2011) - The Harrisburg Stampede have signed some notable players this off-season stocking the roster with All-Pros, players with championships under their belt, and veterans as well as rookies. As the start of training camp approaches, Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski continues to build his roster.
Today the Stampede announced the signing of four players to their training camp roster, including three defensive backs and a former all-star high school lineman.
Among the four signings, Defensive Back Cedeno Patrick brings the most experience to the Stampede. The 6'1", 205 pound product of Delaware State played for the New Jersey Revolution from 2008 through 2010. In 2010 he totaled 19.5 tackles, including 17 solo stops. He was also signed by the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League in 2010.
Defensive Back Ryan Archie (5'10", 190) played his prep ball with Philadelphia's Martin Luther King High School and college ball at Millersville University, where he garnered Defensive Player of the Week honors in week six of 2008. Since college he has suited up for Team USA and also the local Lancaster Lightning.
The third defensive back inked by the Stampede is Alain Lorminier, a 6'3", 212 pound DB from Centreville (Virginia) High School. A former prep basketball star and a veteran of the Virginia semi-pro football circuit, Lorminier signed with the Maryland Maniacs of the Indoor Football League in 2010.
The Stampede also added to their offensive line depth with the signing of Lineman William Henton, a 6'3", 290 pound rookie lineman. Henton was a prep star at Connecticut's Fitch High School and was selected for the Governor's Cup All-Star Game.
"This group of guys covers all the different types of players we are looking for. Ryan is a local guy; I really like to have local guys and especially PSAC [Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference] kids on the roster. The other players are all kids adding to our depth and competition levels at our camp. Cedeno and Will we saw at a combine in Baltimore and Alain was a recruited and researched kid. In this business you get your kids from all over and in many different ways," commented Nowotarski.
