HARRISBURG, PA (February 11, 2011) - The Harrisburg Stampede added some size and depth on both sides of the ball with the signing of two lineman, veteran Archie Alexander and rookie Eric Ducksworth.
Offensive and Defensive Lineman Alexander (6'8", 355 pounds) is a veteran of five football seasons and has seen action in the National Indoor Football League (NIFL) with the Greensboro Revolution and Lincoln Capitals/St. Joseph Cyclones, American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) with the Baltimore Blackbirds, Baltimore Mariners, and Ogden Knights, and the Indoor Football League (IFL) with the Abilene Ruff Riders and Austin Turfcats.
Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski commented on Alexander, "Archie is a big kid and should fit in well with the group of linemen we have signed so far; we are looking to be big and physical."
Eric Ducksworth, a 6'5", 335 pound defensive lineman was a Second Team All-State performer at Mississippi's New Albany High School. Following high school he moved on to Northeast Mississippi Community College and then moved up to Belhaven University to play for the Blazers.
In two seasons (2008-2009) for the Blazers, Ducksworth totaled 54 tackles (23 solo and 31 assisted), ten tackles for a loss and 4.5 sacks; in just 18 games.
After college Ducksworth suited up with the local minor league outdoor football squad, the Chambersburg Cardinals, where he was named rookie of the year in 2010.
Coach Nowotarski noted, "Eric is a big strong physical kid and we are thrilled to give him a chance to play on the Stampede. I believe Eric can be another impact player for us right from the start."
