TRENTON, NJ (February 2, 2011) - The Trenton Steel of the Southern Indoor Football League announced the signing of running back Craig Heyward, Jr. (6’0”, 234, Middle Tennessee State) to the 2011 roster.
Heyward, who played collegiately at Middle Tennessee State, is the oldest son of legendary NFL running back Craig “Ironhead” Heyward. As a walk-on at Middle Tennessee State, Heyward played primarily on special teams. His brother, Cameron, is the starting defensive end for the Ohio State Buckeyes and is expected to be drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft.
“With the signing of Craig Heyward, we have added to our team a strong and powerful player at a crucial position,” said head coach Jeff Hoffman. “Craig is an impressive downhill runner who runs behind his pads.
