The Bricktown Brawlers have established a solid group of defensive backs for their inaugural 2011 season. Known as The Lockdown Coalition, the Brawlers have a number of tremendous athletes who have had success at the collegiate level as well as some who have excelled in the professional ranks as well. These young men are poised step up and help the Bricktown Brawlers succeed both on, and off, the playing field.
Carlos Bates (6-2, 200) - Carlos Bates is from Atlanta, Georgia and has been playing football since he was six years old. He graduated from high school ranked as the No. 2 cornerback from Georgia and the No. 19 cornerback in the nation. Bates spent two years at the JUCO level, where he racked up 70 tackles and eleven interceptions, while earning JUCO All-American honors both years. He completed his collegiate career at Southwestern Oklahoma State, where he finished with 45 tackles and four interceptions.
Marcus Darrisaw (6-0, 181) - Marcus Darrisaw is a bruising defensive back from Delray Beach, Florida. He grew up fast when his father left home and he rallied his four brothers and sisters around him to help his mom make ends meet. He used this maturity to work on his education at a junior college before transferring to Division I-AA Savannah State, where he became a team leader. Darrisaw helped lead Savannah State to their best season since moving up to Division I-AA, compiling 38 tackles and two interceptions.
A.D. Hale (6-2, 195) - Anthony "AD" Hale played college ball at Glenville State where he earned 2009 All-WVIAC First Team Defensive Honors, following a 25 tackle, six interception senior year. In 2010, Hale was on the Richmond Revolution roster, where he played three games and accumulated five tackles and one interception.
Travis Lee (6-2, 195) - Travis Lee was a three-year letter winner at Emporia State University and is the first player in MIAA history to return an interception 100 yards for a touchdown and score a defensive extra point in the same season. Lee had to fight to even play college football. Texas Tech offered him a scholarship but by the time he took his ACT, they gave his scholarship to someone else. He went to Emporia State on a track scholarship and it took him three years to finally make the football team, where he excelled into a valuable player. He now hopes to take the next step in his career with the Bricktown Brawlers in 2011.
Slade McCarty (5-11, 200) - Slade McCarty is a defensive back from Amarillo, Texas who played college football for both Oklahoma Panhandle State University and New Mexico Highlands.
Sean McMoore (6-1, 190) - Sean McMoore lettered in football and track in high school before moving on to Northern Iowa. After redshirting his first year, he moved into a reserve role at Northern Iowa as a cornerback until finally earning a starting spot in his senior year, where he ended up notching 33 tackles and two interceptions. Following an experience at the Minnesota Vikings training camp in 2009, Sean played for Sioux City in the IFL in 2010, where he finished his rookie year with 28 tackles, 2.5 for a loss.
Terrell McMoore (6-1, 190) - Terrell McMoore lettered in football and track, much like his twin brother Sean, and joined him at Northern Iowa. Terrell earned a starting role before his brother, getting his first three starts as a sophomore. He enjoyed his best season as a senior, accumulating 59 tackles while notching five interceptions over the year, earning All-Missouri Valley Football Second Team honors. After attending the Minnesota Vikings training camp in 2009, Terrell joined Sioux City in the IFL in 2010, where he accumulated 24 tackles and one interception.
Edward Moore, III (6-0, 205) - Ed Moore is from San Antonio, Texas and played college ball for Prairie View A&M beginning in 2005. Moore ended his collegiate career with over 100 tackles as well as five interceptions. In 2010, Moore served as a graduate assistant for the Panthers before joining the Bricktown Brawlers for the 2011 season.
Darren Newson (6-0, 200) - After a storied high school career at Flower Mound, Texas, Darren Newson joined the Army where he became a star member of their secondary. He enrolled at Division II Harding University in 2007 and became their starting cornerback in 2008. In two years at Harding, he compiled 94 tackles and four interceptions. Newson spent time last season with the Kent Predators of the IFL and the Wenatchee Venom of the AIFA.
Kendale Rayford (5-9, 180) - Kendale Rayford played for Division III Louisiana College, whose team improved every year of his collegiate career. He earned Division III All-American honors in his senior season with five interceptions and 19 passes defended. Kendale played in 2010 with the Green Bay Blizzard of the IFL.
