Steelhawks Unveil Home and Away Jerseys for 2011 Season
Bethlehem, PA: The Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Indoor Football League held a press conference this afternoon at the Meadows in Hellertown to unveil their uniforms for the 2011 season. The event was a fashion show type event that also included the newly named Steel Fitness PRECIOUS METAL Dance Team. Congressman Charlie Dent was on hand as well to lend his support of the Lehigh Valley's exciting new sports franchise.
"Our base design we modeled of the Georgia Tech collegiate uniforms, and then we made some modifications to fit our style," stated Executive Vice President and General Manager Mike Clark. "Our Black and Vegas Gold colors we feel will intimidate any opposing team that has to face us this year. Guardian Sports Gear did a great job on the design, and we are so excited to see our guys hit the field on February 26th in Reading."
The team also announced that through a NAME THE TEAM CONTEST via the Steel Fitness Riverport website, that the dance team will now and forever be called the Precious Metal. Director Tracey Stanton and a group of five other dance team members also showed off their new uniforms which were created by Magna Cleaners with the help of Cheer Ink.
In team news, the Steelhawks have 36 players under contract for the 2011 season, the Coaching staff is hard at work finalizing their roster for the start of training camp next month. The Steelhawks are allowed to bring as many as 45 men to training camp in February in anticipation of their February 26th opener at the Reading Express. The league allows each team in the league to begin training camp exactly two weeks before their first game. The Steelhawks Home Opener is scheduled for March 19th at the Stabler Arena on the Goodman Campus of Lehigh University against the Richmond Revolution.
