TRENTON, NJ (January 13, 2011) - The Trenton Steel announced today that it has signed wide receiver Damon Harrison (6'3", 185, Shaw) to a contract for the 2011 season. A native of Newark, Harrison is looking forward to returning to his home state to play for the Steel.
Harrison spent last season with the Baltimore Mariners of the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA). Harrison and the Mariners won the AIFA Championship with a 16-0 regular season record. Harrison had 11 receptions for 7 touchdowns.
In three seasons as a starter for the Shaw Bears out of Raleigh, North Carolina, Harrison played in 30 games, pulled in 72 catches for a total of 1,433 yards and landed 12 touchdowns. Harrison still holds the CIAA championship game receiving record of 5 catches for 156 yards that helped the Bears win their first championship game in 57 years.
"Damon has great size and hands that will provide distinct advantages over defensive backs around the SIFL," said head coach Jeff Hoffman. "He and E.J. Nemeth, who we also recently signed, have played together in the past, leading to a championship during their last season together. We expect to see significant production from these two as they lead the Steel offense."
The Trenton Steel will kick off their inaugural season in the SIFL in March 2011 and will play all of their home games at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ. Tickets packages for the team's premiere season are now available with season tickets available for as low as $60.00. Tickets are available by visiting the Steel on the web at www.trentonsteel.com or by calling the Steel offices at (609)656-3300. Don't miss the chance to be part of RIVETING INDOOR FOOTBALL!
