BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme Indoor Football Team is pleased to announce the signings of wide receiver, Darwin Salaam and running back, Victor Tolbert to their 2011 roster.
Victor Tolbert, 5'10" 215 lbs., running back from Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio is set to join the Extreme for the 2011 season. Tolbert began his collegiate career at Bowling Green University prior to transferring to Central State where he was a 2006 All-Conference selection, 2007 DII All-Independent selection, and participated in the 2008 DII All-American Bowl Game. Tolbert spent the 2010 season with Marion of the CIFL where he finished 5th in the league in rushing and scored 9 touchdowns in only 6 games. Tolbert added 2 receiving touchdowns on 15 receptions good for 95 yards.
Darwin Salaam, 6'3" 200 lbs. wide receiver from the University of Alabama will play his first professional football season with the Extreme. Salaam spent the majority of his time at Alabama as a member of the scout team from 2005-2007. Salaam has played professionally for in the AF2 (Mahoning Valley) and the SIFL (Birmingham), where he most recently made 30 receptions for 415 yards and 4 TDs with Birmingham.
"Team speed and depth are areas we are looking to improve upon. Darwin and Victor add to our team speed and will both compete for starting jobs and playing time," states Head Coach Mike Murray. "Victor has produced everywhere he's played and has put up some pretty impressive numbers. Darwin adds size, speed, and a great work ethic to our receiving corps, which is an area that we view as one of our bigger strengths."
With these two signings, the Extreme roster now stands at 28 players announced as part of the 2011 training camp roster. IFL training camp rosters consist of 45 players.
The Bloomington Extreme will open training camp Sunday, February 13, 2011 and kick off the season two weeks later, Sunday, February 27, 2011 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum against the Richmond Revolution with a 3:05 pm start time.
