HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – The Northern Kentucky River Monsters indoor football organization is pleased to announce the signing of six players, including two of the team’s four draft picks.
Marietta graduates, offensive lineman George Frisch and quarterback Jon D’Angelo, the organization’s second- and third-round picks, respectively, have officially inked their deals.
Four players that attended Saturday’s workout were signed and given invites to the team’s training camp. Three offensive linemen, J.T. Haynes, Chris McCreery and Joshua Ellison, were signed to help solidify the trenches, while the fourth free agent acquisition – quarterback Seth Ellis – hopes to be the River Monsters’ primary trigger man.
Haynes, a graduate of Ohio Dominican, comes to Northern Kentucky after spending the last two seasons with Marion Mayhem (CIFL). The 6-2, 330 lbs. lineman will be playing his second stint with head coach Rodney Swanigan.
Cincinnati native Joshua Ellison comes home of sorts after spending last season with the Miami Valley Silverbacks (CIFL). He is also a member of the Kings Comets outdoor football team.
McCreery will be an indoor football rookie after playing in the semi-pro USFL with the Chattanooga Steam (2009) and Tennessee Crush (2010). He earned All-league honors following the 2010 season.
Indoor veteran Seth Ellis looks to return to the game after sitting out the last two seasons. The 6-5 Ellis played his collegiate ball about four miles from his new home, Thomas More College. The Batavia native played for the Cincinnati Marshals (NIFL) and the Miami Valley Silverbacks (AIFL).
The River Monsters will open training camp on January 30 at the Midwest Hoops Complex in preparation of their February 25th opener at the Canton Cougars.
The Northern Kentucky River Monsters are inaugural members of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The River Monsters, a professional indoor/arena football team, plays their home football games at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of Northern Kentucky University.
