HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, KY – The Northern Kentucky River Monsters indoor football organization has announced the signing of two players that attended the team’s recent tryout that was held at the Midwest Hoops Complex.
Receiver Ricardo Lenhart and linebacker Santino Turnbow earned a contract after exceptional showings.
Lenhart isn’t a stranger to the indoor game, spending the last three seasons at various levels. The Otterbein University (OH) product started his professional career with the Louisville Fire (AFL2) in 2008. He spent the 2009 season split with the Milwaukee Iron and Mahoney Valley. Following his stint with AFL2, he spent the 2010 season with the Arkansas Diamondbacks and the Amarillo Venom.
Turnbow has spent the last several seasons playing outdoor football with the Kings Comets.
In addition to the two players signed, coach Rodney Swanigan has invited 16 players from the tryout for a second looks.
The following players have been invited for the second workout on December 18; Marque Jones, Dumorris Powell, Austin Goss, Anthony Brock, Robert Feliciano, Josh Ellison, Sean Malofronte, Brandon Martin, Lane Raney, Shaun Praythress, Sean Gibson, Rodney Stone, Dustin Noe, Kevin Johnson, Ryan Wells, and Mike Brown.
The Northern Kentucky River Monsters are inaugural members of the Ultimate Indoor Football League. The River Monsters, a professional indoor/arena football team, plays their home football games at the Bank of Kentucky Center on the campus of Northern Kentucky University. They will open the season on February 25 at the Canton Cougars.
