Luke Scarborough is still having fun playing football, and thus not ready to give up on his aspirations. So the defensive lineman has returned to the gridiron for his sixth season.
The Winton Woods and Thomas More College product will be playing for his seventh indoor football organization when he suits up for the Northern Kentucky River Monsters.
“It seemed like a pretty reliable team and league,” said Scarborough. “I see them being able to be successful and have the ability to grab fans from Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati.”
He has played for the Lexington Horseman, Wyoming Calvery, Cincinnati Jungle Kats, Miami Valley Silverbacks, Marion Mayhem and Cincinnati Commandoes.
The most important thing to Scarborough was the chance for his kids, Jayden, Kennedy and Landon, to see him play. While having his kids watch his is vital, the 6-4, 290 pound lineman still yearns for a championship.
However, if this is his last go-around – Scarborough is prepared to to hang up his cleats.
“I am prepared to walk away,” said Scarborough. “But I can see myself playing more in the UFL, or even the CFL. If I play at a high enough level, I can give it another couple years.
“I want to be dominant from the start, be a great leader and good teammate,” Scarborough continued. “To be a good example, on and off the field.”
When not honing his skills on the field, Scarborough works for Time Warner Cable as an installer. He is enjoying his seven years of marriage to the former Erica Tolbert.
