Harrisburg Stampede's Stout Signing Solidifies Line
HARRISBURG, PA (December 15, 2010) - If Mark Stout's first nine seasons of professional football are any indication it may be safe for Stampede fans to start making playoff and championship game plans for his tenth season.
The 6'6", 315 pound lineman who just signed for his first season with the Harrisburg Stampede, has been synonymous with winning. In his nine seasons of professional football, eight of his teams have made the playoffs. He also has appeared in five straight conference championship games, has been in three of the last four league titles games, has won two straight league championships, and has three national titles under his belt.
"Just like with Greg [Justice], Stouty brings a world of experience to our team. He will be a big part of shaping the personality of this squad; a never give up and fight to the end attitude. I am thrilled he is here, "said Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski.
A native of Bakersfield, California who played his high school ball at Bakersfield's North High School, Stout first gained notoriety playing for California State University, Sacramento. As a two-year letter winner, Stout earned All-Western Conference honors for Sacramento State in 1991 and 1992 and was also named a Team Captain and Outstanding Offensive Lineman for the Hornets in 1992.
Stout made his professional debut by splitting time with the Peoria Pirates and the Topeka Knights of the Indoor Football League in 2000. The Knights were the first of Stout's winning teams finishing the season 10-4 and making it to the league semi-finals. The 2001 season brought change as the Knights moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, switched leagues joining the Indoor Professional Football League (IFL), and were re-named the Tennessee ThunderCats. They continued to be successful as they finished their inaugural season in Tennessee going 11-4 and taking the IPFL title.
Stout suited up for the Fresno Frenzy of Arena Football League 2 (af2) in 2003 and in 2005 signed with the Evansville Bluecats of the United Indoor Football (UIF) league. He started a four-year run with the Reading Express in 2006. In Stout's four seasons with Reading (three under current Stampede Head Coach and GM Nowotarski), the Express were 54-14, played in four straight conference championship games, winning two, and won a national title in 2009.
In 2010 Stout moved south to Baltimore and was re-united with his fellow "Pillar of Penn Street," Greg Justice the Baltimore General Manager, and the Mariners completed their undefeated title run, and Stout's second straight championship win.
This season Justice and Stout will be re-united again, and with seven All-Pro nods between them, the 6'6" Stout and 6'8" will fortify both ends of the Stampede offensive line.
