(North Texas Crunch Indoor Professional Football Team, North Richland Hills, TX) At the end of last month on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 5:00 pm in the Nolan Estes Training Room “A” Infusion Church, North Texas Crunch and Powerade was asked to host a Christmas dinner for one of the newest high schools in the Dallas Independent School District. The high school, John Leslie Patton Jr. Academic Center, serves students who are older than their peers in the same grade level because they lack high school credits. This is a nontraditional high school that provides students with the opportunity to catch up and earn their high school diplomas and receive college and career training through flexible schedules and small class sizes. The school offers students who have been disenfranchised an opportunity to return to school without the stigma of being the oldest kid in the class. This school allows young adults from 18-25 to have the high school experience and earn their high school diplomas. Many of these students dropped out due to family issues, homelessness, drug problems, pregnancy, incarceration, etc. These students needed a second chance and DISD is giving it to them. In its first year this school has almost 350 students. So join me in helping these students by volunteering for their first annual Christmas dinner. Attachments:
