All-Pro, Hall of Famer Justice Signs with Harrisburg Stampede
HARRISBURG, PA (December 6, 2010) - Offensive Lineman Greg Justice, a four-time All-Pro selection and Hall of Famer, has signed with the Harrisburg Stampede of the Southern Indoor Football League (SIFL). Justice, who led the Baltimore Mariners to an undefeated (16-0) season in 2010 as their General Manager, has come out of retirement and moved from the front office to the playing field to be re-united with his former Head Coach and current Stampede General Manager and Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski.
"Well it seems like old times at the Stampede coral. Getting a vet like Greg will be so good on so many fronts. He will be a great team leader and motivator and a mentor to the younger guys, which is so important. He will be an outstanding addition to the Harrisburg/Central Pa Community as well, and certainly not least, he knows a little about what he's doing on a football field," commented Nowotarski.
The 6'8", 315 pound lineman, a product of the Delaware Blue Hens, made his professional debut with the Norfolk Nighthawks of the Arena Football League 2 (af2) in 2000. In 2006 he signed with the Reading Express, which finished the regular season at 12-2 and advanced to the conference championship game in only their first year of play.
In 2007, Nowotarski took the helm of the Express and Justice re-signed with the team. The 2007 Express compiled a 14-2 regular season record and advanced to the league championship game. The Express led the league with a staggering .43 sacks allowed per game.
Justice also played for Team USA Football in several competitions in Austria, England, France, and Mexico and also signed a contract with the Austin Wranglers of the Arena Football League (AFL) in 2007.
The Baltimore Mariners signed Justice for the 2008 season and he continued to excel for the expansion club as an offensive lineman. In 2009 he filled the triple role of player/coach/General Manager for Baltimore.
Under his leadership the Mariners finished 9-5 and earned the team's first playoff berth in only their second season of play. The Justice led offensive line helped propel a league best rushing attack.
After being named All-Pro four straight seasons (2006-2009) in 2010 Justice hung up his cleats and moved to full time responsibilities as General Manager. Baltimore was rewarded for his efforts as the Mariners completed a 16-0 season and won the American Indoor Football Association (AIFA) national championship.
During his playing career Justice has also been invited to numerous workouts in the AFL, Canadian Football League (CFL), and National Football League (NFL) and in 2009 he was inducted into the Minor League Football Hall of Fame.
"I am excited to be reunited with Bernie [Nowotarski] and Steve [Gaunt] and of course one of my fellow Pillars of Penn Street," commented Justice.
