Harrisburg Stampede's McKissic Makes Leap to AFL's Talons
HARRISBURG, PA (December 1, 2010) - The Harrisburg Stampede announced former lineman Jacquez "Jock" McKissic has signed with the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League (AFL), the latest Stampede player to make the move to the AFL.
"I am happy to see Jock move up to the Talons. One of my biggest goals when I founded the American Indoor Football Association was to give these players a forum to display their talents and move up to the AFL, CFL, and NFL. It's great to see that coming true as a wave of former Stampede are getting their opportunity at the upper levels of pro football" commented Stampede Co-Owner John Morris.
After a storied prep career at Opelika High School in Alabama McKissic went on to letter for four seasons at Clemson University, where the Tigers made four bowl appearances (Champs Sports, Music City, Chick-fil-a, and Gator) during Jock's time at Clemson.
A career highlight was his 82-yard interception return for a touchdown against South Carolina in 2006, the longest interception return for a score by a Tiger defensive lineman in history.
In 2010 he helped lead a 12-4 Harrisburg Stampede squad, which earned the team's first playoff berth, in only its second year of play, and also notched the team's first playoff win and a spot in the conference championship game.
The 6'7", 320 pound lineman will be suiting up for the Talons in 2011. Tulsa, which will be entering its 12th season of arena football, has made the playoffs in each of its 11 seasons, winning titles in 2003 and 2007.
